Tablet Computers

Tablet computers are a recent invention which are quite thin, lightweight and often use a touchscreen display which doubles up as the input device. Lack of a keyboard has been a hallmark of tablet computers and they were primarily designed to bridge the gap between smartphones and laptops. Tablet computers run on several operating systems such as Android, iOS or Windows and are manufactured by several computer manufacturers. Apple’s iPad is probably the most widely known tablet computer. Although, since the success of iPad almost all major computer and smartphone makers have launched their own tablet computers. There are also many specialized tablets which are primarily used by engineers, artists and graphic designers as these allow one to design more effectively using the touch screen.
