Tape Drives

Tape drives are one of the most commonly used form of data storage and were the primary form of data storage available to masses for decades. Tape drives use a magnetic tape and audio cassettes, VHS cassettes, floppy drives are the most common forms of tape drives which were used in the decades from the 1950s to 1990s and early 2000s. Indeed, such was their popularity at one point of time that they gave their name to the famous Tape recorder which used a magnetic tape drive for recording audio. Due to several factors and newer technologies tape drives have currently fallen out of fashion. Nonetheless, many devices still use tape drives as these provide a safe way for storing data and are extensively used for long term archives.
