Network Routers

Routers are central to the functioning of any computer network and they play an important role in directing traffic of data packets within and between computer networks. A router forwards data packet received by it to another router and this process continues until the data packet reaches its destination. Routers are connected to two or more data lines between different networks and their main function is to direct various incoming outgoing data packets. Routers read the information contained in a data packet and use this information for ascertaining the destination of a data packet. Sending or receiving information between 2 or more computer networks is impossible without using a router.
