Hard Disk Drives

Hard disk drives are the main secondary storage devices which are used for storing the bulk of data in a computer and can be found in most types of computers. Hard disk drives are mainly used for storing and retrieving information or data on a rigid rapidly rotating disk which is also known as hard disk platter and is coated with magnetic material. Hard disk drives are used in most computers except the ones with solid state drives. Hard disk drives are a lot cheaper than solid state drives but consequently offer low speeds of data transfer. Capacity of a hard disk drive can range from a few hundred MB to 4 GB or more.
