3d printers are a recent invention and unlike their name they are mostly used for manufacturing 3d objects from 3d models designed via a computer graphics programs. 3d printing is also known as additive manufacturing and its widely expected that 3d printers will revolutionise the process of manufacturing and herald a new industrial revolution. 3d printers use molten metal or plastic for manufacturing an item designed using a 3d graphics software and have been used for printing or manufacturing several items such as models, concept cars, jet engine parts, guns etc. 3d printers are expected to be used in several industries and many experts are already pointing out at the disruptive potential of 3d printers.
