Thermal Printers

Thermal printers as the name suggests thermal heat for printing on paper. Most thermal printers use a thermal print head which heats the thermal paper when it passes over the print head. Thermal printers selectively heat only certain parts of the paper and are used extensively in several industries. Until recently, most fax machines used thermal printers and even now receipts of various types such as those detailing the amount and number of things bought at a supermarket are printed using thermal printers. Thermal paper changes colour when exposed to heat. Thermal printers are used at petrol filling stations, information kiosks, point of sale systems, label printers etc.
