Ballustrades
Balustrades are a low barrier or wall used in buildings not only for safety purposes to prevent falling from terraces, rooftops and stairs but also for decorative purposes too. Traditionally they were composed of railings with a horizontal bar for use as a handrail and wooden or metal spindles but contemporary designs often include panelling in place of the spindles. Balustrades are designed with components and fittings in traditional materials such as wood, mild steel and wrought iron, or the more modern stainless steel and aluminium designs that can incorporate strengthened glass panels. Balustrades are used in most domestic, commercial and industrial buildings and building applications including the construction of stairs, balconies, high patios, bridges, bridges or terraces.
