Heat Sinks

Heat sinks are a type of passive heat exchanger which works to transfer any heat generated by a mechanical or electronic device to a fluid medium. Often this fluid medium is air or liquid coolant that is then dissipated away from the device, which allows regulation of the device’s temperature – keeping levels optimal. Types of heat sinks include active heat sinks, passive heat sinks, aluminium heat sinks, stamped heat sinks, machining heat sinks, bonded-fin heat sinks, folded-fin heat sinks and skived heat sinks. Heat sinks are commonly found in computers and are used to cool graphic processors and central processing units. They are used in a wide range of engineering applications like microprocessor cooling.
