Optical Comparators

An optical comparator is used to perform an inspection of manufactured parts. With an optical comparator, the silhouette of a part is magnified and projected upon the screen – which allows for the dimensions and geometry of a part to be accurately measured against limits and targets. The measuring process happens in several ways. The most common way is where graduations on the screens are superimposed over the silhouette, allow the viewer to measure visually. However, the most technologically advanced methods involve software that analyses the image and reports all measurements back. Optical comparators are widely used in industries of trade, engineering, science, technology, and quantitative research.
