Stands and Workholdings

Workholding and stands are the generic names given to any device used to firmly hold workpieces while machining. Workholding equipment is any device or tool which is used in securing a workpiece against the force of machining. There are two components to workholding, these are the actual workholding device, such as a milling vise, chucks, indexers or rotary tables and the method of locating and securing that workholding device to your machine. Jobs that can be undertaken on stands and workholdings are measuring, milling and turning. Industries that use stands and workholdings include engineering, metallurgy, metrology, and the wire and cable industry.
