Explosives

Explosive materials are reactive substances that are either chemically or energetically unstable and so produce a sudden expansive of the material. This produces a reactive explosion that’s characterised by a loud noise or flash of light, and heat. Explosives are categorised as low or high explosives according to their rate of decomposition, or to simplify, by the amount of explosive needed to create a true detonation. Low explosives are usually used as propellants in things such as fireworks and gun powders. High explosives are more carefully regulated. As mentioned low explosives are most commonly used in pyrotechnics, flares and illumination devices and so are used to produce products sometimes available for general sale. In contrast, High explosives require close supervision and use by trained operatives, in fields such as mining, demolition and the production of military bombs and warheads.
