Organic Chemicals

An organic chemical can be defined as any chemical compound whose molecules contain carbon. These can take the form of gaseous, liquid or solid chemical compounds. Industrial organic chemicals are produced in large quantities, and most are derived from petroleum or natural gas. Most of these chemicals will contain hydrogen with or without phosphorous, sulfur, nitrogen, oxygen and other elements. They exist in either carbon chain or carbon ring form. Some of the most important organic chemicals produced for use in industry are Syngas, Ammonia, Methanol, Acetic Acid, Phosgene and Butanal Organic chemicals have many applications in the production of materials, used in the manufacture of products for consumers. Ethylene is used to make polyethelene, the world's most used plastic and vinyl chloride, used to make PVC, the material used to produce pipes, windows, floor covering, wire coating and many other products.
