Plastics

Plastics are a mostly a synthetic material derived from petrochemicals, but can also be made from renewable materials such as cellulosic's from cotton linters. Plastic is a malleable material that can be moulded and shaped to produce solid objects, and are used to produce an enormous range of products. Some of the more common plastics used to produce products are: Polyethelene (PE) – used in the production of plastic bags and bottles, Polypropylene (PP) – found in packaging, straws, appliances and piping, Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) – used in the manufacture of window frames, flooring, plumbing pipes and guttering. Low cost, versatility, ease of manufacture and its waterproof nature makes plastic the material of choice for producing an ever expanding range of products for both domestic and business use. It’s key to the production of thousands of products, from toys to packaging to building materials.
