Bronze

Bronze is a metal alloy that is made from mainly copper, tin and other metals, such as, aluminium, manganese, nickel or zinc. The additions of tin and other metals creates a metal that is stronger than copper alone. The archaeological period where bronze was the hardest metal in widespread use is known as the Bronze Age and Bronze pieces can be seen in museums categorised under copper alloys. During this period bronze was widely used for casting. Nowadays, Bronze has a very wide range of uses including that of ship-building due to its toughness and resistance to salt water corrosion. Bronze is widely used in tool-making, sculpture making, coin and medal making.
