Copper and Copper Alloys

Copper is a soft, malleable and ductile metal which has a high thermal and electrical conductivity. Copper exists in pure metal form but can be alloyed with other metals (like iron, tin, aluminium, manganese, nickel or zinc) to strengthen or give some added benefits depending on the function. Common copper alloys are brass and bronze. The softness of copper explains its high electrical conductivity and so it is commonly used in the electrical industry in wiring and cabling. Copper is also used in electric motors and architect. While copper alloys are used in tool-making, sculpture making, coin and medal making.
