A fertiliser is any material of natural or synthetic origin is applied to soils or to plant tissues to supply nutrients essential to growth. Fertilisers enhance the growth of plants in two ways – one is by providing nutrients, the second is to enhance the effectiveness of nutrients. Fertilizers can typically be split into three categories; Nitrogen (leaf growth), Phosphorus (development of roots, flowers, seeds, fruit). Fertilisers are used in agriculture and farming and are also used domestically in gardens.
