Bushings

A bushing, often referred to as a rubber bushing, is a vibrations handling device, or vibration isolator. Typically, the bushing separates the faces of two metal objects, whilst still allowing for a degree of movement. Bushings are often described as a flexible mounting device or an anti-vibration mounting. A typical bushing might feature an isolator made from neoprene and a sleeve of carbon steel with a rust-resistant coating. Such bushings offer excellent rebound protection. Bushings are used extensively in the automotive industries, particularly in suspension systems. However, this is certainly not their only use and bushings can be seen in generators and compressors, pumps, power plants and even office equipment and computers.
