Self-Lubricating Bearings

Self-lubricating bearings are spherical bearings that are used in applications that require long bearing life without maintenance or extra lubrication or greasing. They are essentially a metallic component with high porosity, immersed in a lubricant oil. Their special construction ensures very low friction and no maintenance. Maintenance-free bearings are suitable for swivel motions, tilting motions and can compensate for misalignments. Self-lubricating bearings (often called maintenance-free bearings) are available in many types of configurations including Steel-on-PTFE composite material, Steel-on-PTFE fabric, Steel-on-PTFE plastic and Steel-on-Copper alloys. Self-lubricating bearings are used in a wide range of applications but commonly used in outdoor applications where frequent maintenance is difficult. They are also commonly used with heavy loads (like construction machinery) or in constant direction loads.
