Self Locking Nuts

A self-locking nut is a nut which resists loosening under torque or varies types of vibrations. They work by having a small pre-installed plastic insert or a chemical substance deform elastically to create a locking motion. Self-locking nuts are also referred to as lock nuts, stiff nuts, elastic stop nuts, locking nuts, prevailing torque nus and elastic stop nuts. Self-locking nuts are used in heavy-duty applications, such as construction and engineering.
