Centrifugal Pumps

Centrifugal pumps transport fluids. More often than not, the rotational energy comes from an engine or electric motor. Pumps must be filled with liquid before they are started or they will not be able to work to their maximum ability, although self-priming centrifugal pumps are also available (where liquid is recirculated within the casing). Types of centrifugal pumps include vertical centrifugal pumps, froth pumps, and multistage centrifugal pumps. Common uses of the centrifugal pump include water, sewage, petroleum and petrochemical pumping. A centrifugal fan is commonly used in the everyday vacuum cleaner.
