Snap Retaining Rings

Snap retaining rings are also commonly known as circlips, c-clips or Jesus clips. Snap retaining rings fit inside grooves either inside a housing or bore, or placed on the outside of a shaft. They literally snap into position to create a shoulder to bear loads and securely fasten and retain components of an assembly into place. Snap retaining rings are available in a variety of types and sizes suitable for a wide range of different applications. Snap retaining rings can be external – pushing from the outside in; or external – exerting force from the inside. Snap retaining rings are often used to secure pinned connections and other common applications are in pistons, turbines and various types of motor. Their versatility and ability to handle high-rotational speeds as well as providing radial force see snap retaining rings being employed in a great number of applications.
