Defibrillators and Resuscitation Devices

A defibrillator is a type of medical device that is used in the treatment of threatening cardiac dysrhythmias. It works by delivering a counter shock (a dose of electrical current) to depolarise a large amount of the heart muscle, to end the dysrhythmia. Resuscitation devices are a type of equipment which helps administrate CPR, an emergency procedure which requires artificial ventilation. Types of defibrillators and resuscitation devices include manual external defibrillators, manual internal defibrillators, automated external defibrillators (AED), implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, wearable cardioverter defibrillator. Types of resuscitation devices include self-inflating bags, flow-inflating bags, and T-piece resuscitators. Defibrillators and resuscitation devices are used by those in the medical field as well as by those in emergency services.
