Pulse Oximeters

Pulse oximeters measure a person’s oxygen saturation (percentage of blood that contains oxygen) non-invasively for clinical purposes. Depending on the patient, pulse oximeters can be attached to the fingertip, earlobe or, as is the case in paediatrics, across the foot. Oximeters can help in the diagnosis of various medical conditions including sleep apnoea, hypoxia, and hypertension. Types of pulse oximeters include finger pulse oximeters, handheld pulse oximeters and paediatric pulse oximeters. Specific types of oximeters are pulse oximeters, foetal oximeters and handheld oximeter. Pulse oximeters are used in by doctors and medics to assess the level of oxygen in the blood the purpose of diagnoses or treatment.
