Key Rings

Key rings or split rings are a small metallic or plastic ring with a 'double loop' design. To attach a key to the ring, you simply need to force one end of the loop open to slide the key around the spiral and onto the ring. Key rings where designed with a very practical purpose in mind, being used to keep a set of keys together in one place, reducing the chance of a key being misplaced. Key rings are commonly marketed as souvenir items which are sold in souvenir shops. These key rings will usually have a decorative piece called a key fob attached to it making it more attractive to customers. Key rings will allow multiple items to attach to it other than keys making it a popular thing to have. It is common to see wooden or plastic ornaments attached to make the key ring more attractive, a plastic label attached for owner identification, USB ports and car keys attached to the item. The mechanism also allows for the key ring to be attached to other items to prevent it from being lost. A key ring can connect to belts, lanyards and even phone cases.
