Telecentric Lenses

Telecentric lenses are a form of compound lens that has either it’s entrance or exit pupil at infinity. When an exit pupil is set at infinity, it produces an orthographic view of the subject (known as image-space telecentric), while an entrance pupil set at infinity makes the lens object-space telecentric. Telecentric lenses are used commonly used in machine visions systems and are a form of non-contact optical metrology. Two common types of telecentric lenses include Bilateral telecentric lenses and Object-sided telecentric lenses. Telecentric lenses are used in a wide range of fields to make objects to be the same size, regardless of their position in space. Common functions include machine vision or inspection applications.
