Laser Diode Modules

A laser diode is an electrical semiconductor laser. Laser diode modules are compact so used when space is a factor but a constant power output is required. Laser diode modules are also known as LD, injection laser diode or ILD – they are commonly available in free-space and pigtailed formats. Because of the low current requirements, most laser diode modules are battery powered (when electrical outputs are 0.9 or 4mW which is standard). Laser diode modules are commonly used in fibre optic communication, laser pointers, barcode readers, reading and recording of CD/DVD/Blu-ray, laser printing, and scanning, as well as lighting sources.
