Blackout Material

Black out material is material that can be applied to surfaces, usually windows, doors or vents to darkened the room by blocking light. Stray light can affect experiments and photodetectors so it’s important to create an environment that is saturated by room light. Common types of black out material are non-adhesive flock material, adhesive flock material, sheet flock material, light absorbent foil and Light Absorbing Black-Out Material, black rubberised fabric, hard construction board, black posterboard, black flocked self-adhesive paper, black aluminium foil, black masking tape, high performance black masking tape and blackout roller blinds. Blackout materials are also used ellipsometry processes and during the practice of some polarimetry techniques.
