Current Sensors

A current sensor is a device that measures electrical current in a wire. The electrical current can be either AC or DC. A signal proportional to the current is generated by the current sensor. There are various ways that the signal can be generated: current, analogue voltage or as digital output. The data can be displayed as measured current in an ammeter, or stored in a data acquisition control system. Current sensors are available in various configurations and minimum and maximum DC voltages. The current measuring range, both in AC and DC will also vary, as will the sensor’s response time. Current sensors are used widely in electrical applications across most industries.
