Pagers

Pagers, which are often known as beepers, are a wireless communication device from the telecommunications family. The device receives and displays numeric messages and announces voice messages. Two type of pages exist, the first is the one-way pager that only receives messages. The second type is two-way which allows you to acknowledge messages and even reply to them. Pages are still in use today, particularly in fields where devices rely on the operation of radio receivers used in mobile phones is prohibited. They are also popular in areas where coverage of mobile phones is poor, but emergency contact is necessary – like in hospitals. Pagers are also used by emergency teams and first responders who reside in rural settings and might not have good cellular coverage. On top of this, pagers are still totally prominent day-to-day in restaurants in the form of ‘buzzers’ (that vibrate or flash) to let customers know when their meal is ready.
