WEMA was founded in July 1992 in Olbernhau and commenced operations on 1 August 1992 with 8 personnel at its premises at Gerbergasse 4 + 5. Before long it developed its own product range for the wood-processing industry. Today a team of 15 highly-qualified and motivated personnel manufacture:
CONQUEST automated turning lathes for series production and MINIMAT 25, MINIMAT 45, MINIMAT 65 for small components in three sizes; JOKER 7000 and JOKER 7000 CD copy turning lathes as a standard design with optional PLC controller and as double-copier or CNC-version; JOKER 7000 CNC and JOKER 8000 CNCCNC turning and milling machines; ALPHA 200/250, BETA 250, GAMMA 250/300 and ALPHA OPTIMO manual lathes in sturdy grey cast-iron design, designed in collaboration with master wood turners; PROFI-S tool grinding machines (profile grinding machine) and BLITZ profile grinding machines PROFISANDER and ZENTRIERBOHRMASCHINE; MINIMAT TRU TROMMEL universal drum; the WEMA GmbH product range also includes special mechanical engineering.
By 1994 structural modifications were already required to accommodate the increased production volumes. A new assembly hall was commissioned at the end of 2000. A training room, a showroom and a larger customer car park were constructed at the same time.
