Every vehicle on the road, from cars to Articulated Trucks has what is known as a plated weight. It is illegal to exceed this plated weight. The Vehicle & Operator Services Agency (DVSA) and the police both have powers to stop, weigh, and restrict any vehicle on a UK road. This means that an operator who is running their truck illegally could find themselves on the receiving end of a stiff penalty, in addition to the inconvenience of not being able to continue their journey.

All of Red Forge’s products come with a full Warranty on both parts and any labour carried out by our fully trained engineers. In addition all Axle Load Indicator fits come with a Lifetime Warranty for as long as the customer owns the vehicle (terms and conditions apply).

We train our engineers in-house, and any third parties interested in fitting our equipment are subject to training, inspection and approval at regular intervals, so that the End User has peace of mind that the installation is of the highest quality.

Red Forge Ltd is a family run business founded in 1976. Originally formed to re-manufacture automotive electrical equipment, during the early 1980’s the company introduced a new product know as Axalert™ in response to requests from the Midland divisional members of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers. This product was designed to indicate to a goods vehicle driver when his vehicle became overloaded. The product was developed by one of the founding directors, the late Mr John Freeman, a Professional Design Engineer.
