Telemarketing

Telemarketing (also known as telesales and inside sales) is a type of direct marketing in which a salesperson encourages customers to purchase services and products through phone or web conferencing. Types of telemarketing include lead generation, sales, outbound, inbound, call to action, appointment setting, database cleansing, surveys and telesales. Most companies mistakenly think that telemarketing is limited to cold calling. However, telemarketing can be used to turn opportunity into business for many companies with a product or a service to sell. For example, charitable organisations, political parties and alumni associations use telemarketing to solicit donations. On top of this, marketing research companies use telemarketing to gauge prospective customers to assess market acceptance of or satisfaction with a service or product.
