Electron Beam Melting

Electron beam melting is a process within additive manufacturing (also known as 3D printing), whereby metal powder or wire is welded by the use of an electronic beam which acts as a heat source. Electron beam melting is often referred to simply as EBM, and the most common hardware systems include Arcam S12, Arcam A2, and Arcam Q10. Due to the heat that must be generated, electron beam welding systems usually have a high-power availability, the most common being 30- and 42-kilowatt systems. Electron beam melting is widely used by the automotive, space and aircraft industry, as well as medical and dental processes.
