Foiling

Foiling is the process of adding metallic designs to paper. Foiling is usually done with a foiling machine which is a heated foil application system that will work to add a metallic finish to cards, invitation, or scrapbooks. Foiling involves creating a metallic finish over a laser printed design, which, once passed through the foil applicator, bonds with the laser ink to form a bond. Once the toner foil backing sheet is removed, you have a totally smooth finish. Foiling machines are also often known as hot foil printers or hot stamping machines. Foiling is usually done by hobbyist and designers, who want to add a special touch to their creations.
