Elemental Analysis

Elemental analysis is a process whereby a material (such as soil, water, waste, bodily fluids, chemical compounds and minerals) are analysed for its isotopic and elemental composition. Elemental analysis falls with the field of analytical chemistry. Types of elemental analysis includes qualitative (which determines which elements are present) or quantitative (which is the determination of how much of each elements are present). Types of qualitative tests include gravimetry, optical atomic spectroscopy, Neutron activating analysis while type of qualitative tests include mass spectrometric atomic spectroscopy, sodium fusion test and Schoniger oxidation. Elemental analysis is undertaken in a wide range of industries including automotive, protection and police services, forensics, military, agrichemical and pharmaceutical.
