Industrial sewing machines have been produced on the site since 1874. Prior to expropriation in 1946, the company was owned by the family of the founder, Julius Köhler. In the period up to 1993, industrial sewing machines for hosiery were designed and produced on the site under the name 'TEXTIMA'. Following privatisation, the new market situation led to a change in the product profile, which now focused on developing and manufacturing special sewing equipment for technical textiles, packaging systems for bulk goods and niche products such as shoe-repair and fur-sewing machines.
SL-Spezialnähmaschinenbau Limbach GmbH & Co. KG is a machine building company based in Saxony, offering custom sewing technology ranging from industrial sewing machines through to complete system solutions. Our range of products includes custom sewing machines for technical textiles, shoe-repair sewing machines, fur-sewing machines and bag-closing systems (bag-stitching or bag-closing machines) for sealing open bags of bulk goods, including bag handling (feeding in, handling, labelling and dispatching) in packaging plants. For the manufacture or encasing of rope-like structures using Keramafil technology, systems are designed and built in vertical and horizontal construction to customer requirements, as a system solution.
