Alrad Instruments Ltd

Through our six technology divisions, ALRAD Imaging, ALRAD Electronics, ALRAD Photonics, ALRAD Medical, ALRAD Thermal and ALRAD Vacuum, we offer thousands of product items from the world's leading manufacturers. We also provide installation, demonstration, and product support services.

We represent many of our principals as their sole distributor in the UK. Some of these exclusive companies have been with us since the 1970s, many of our distribution agreements have been in place for a very long time and that must say something about the service we offer. The products and service we provide open up new opportunities for our customers to improve quality, automation and productivity which is why many of our existing customers have been experiencing ALRAD high quality service for decades.

Alrad employ experienced staff to help our customers generate a competitive edge for their companies backed by world class products.

Alrad are members of the UKIVA (United Kingdom Industrial Vision Association) group of organizations and companies within the PPMA ( Processing and Packaging Machinery Association).

ALRAD Imaging supplies imaging components, equipment and services to both industrial system integrators, OEMs, scientific and research customers.

ALRAD Electronics provides a wide range of optical detectors, laser products, high voltage components, optoelectronic sockets, analytical systems and densitometers.

ALRAD Photonics offers Infrared detectors, power supplies, laser diode modules, photodetectors, optoelectronic components , optical filters, diffraction gratings and laser accessories.

ALRAD Medical is responsible for the marketing and sales of air disinfection systems, endoscope cameras, medical screening, molecular detection, personal protection equipment, temperature screening, UV sterilization and UV C Germicidal LED Lighting.

ALRAD Thermal is responsible for marketing and sales of automotive thermal cameras, commercial vision thermal cameras, thermal industrial cameras, thermal security cameras and thermography thermal cameras

  1. Channel Electron Multipliers

    Channel Electron Multipliers

Outstanding features of the CEMs Series KBL include compact size and ruggedness and special design for easy mounting. In contrast to CEMs constructed entirely of glass, the CEM Series KBL is fabricated from ceramic material that has been processed with a CNC controlled milling machine or lathe before sintering.

    Applications
    Ultraviolet Photoemission Spectroscopy (UPS)
    X-Ray Photoemission Spectroscopy (XPS)
    Time-of-flight Spectrometry (TOF)
    Multi-Ion Counting SSMS
    Mass Spectrometry (MS)
    Auger Spectroscopy
    Isotope Ratio Measurements
    Spot-Profile-Analysis LEED (SPA-LEED)
    Electron-Electron-Loss-Spectroscopy
    Neutral Particles Analysis (NPA)
Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis (ESCA)

  2. Silicon Photo diodes

    Silicon Photo diodes

Centronic silicon diodes are mainly designed to detect light, generating a photocurrent with an external quantum efficiency in the range 0.2 to 0.7 A/W in response to light in the wavelength range 200-1100nm.In addition to light detection, they manufacture diodes specifically for direct detection of x-rays and charged particles (electrons) as well as indirect x-ray detection using scintillator assemblies.

Their diodes are based on a suite of core processes which they call “series”, with each series being optimised through our choice of silicon, junction depth and manufacturing details for a specific purpose as described below. They are able and very willing to modify the details of any of their series in order to optimise performance for a particular application. They are also aware of customers who use their diodes for other applications including neutron detection, based on their own development and qualification. Centronic photodiodes are designed by their engineers in Croydon, building on theirexperience in the market since the early 1970’s. Their wafers are processed in modern fabrication plants in western Europe and return to their Croydon facility for backend processing (packaging, assembly and test). Most of their production consists of bespoke detectors for specific customers however they also offer a wide range of standard geometries in industry standard packaging, which is excellent for prototyping or for manufacturers wishing to source standard product from multiple vendors.
