Cambridge Sensotec, manufacturers of the Rapidox range of gas analysers, was founded in the year 2000. Based in the UK, the company has an established worldwide distribution network and ISO 9001 accreditation.

The Rapiox products have developed considerably over the years and are now available in bench, portable and rack-mountable configurations with a multitude of sensor options. This includes the introduction of the specialist SF6 analysers for the gas-insulated electrical equipment market.

Rapidox 1100 Gas Analyser

The Rapidox 1100 range is one of the company’s most popular, cost-effective and versatile oxygen gas analysers. A single gas analyser designed for analysing low ppm levels or 100% oxygen with either zirconia or electrochemical sensors. Users have a choice of two electrochemical oxygen sensors, one for low ppm measurements of 1ppm to 1% and another for 1–100% oxygen range. Electrochemical sensors are ideal for applications where VOC’s or flammable gases are present in the gas sample. Analysers fitted with the zirconia oxygen sensor provide fast and accurate gas analysis over the range 1ppm to 100% O2. Continuous on-line oxygen gas analysis is available, with a typical response time of approximately 5 seconds.

Other variations of the model include a three-channel multiplex version, which allows for three gas streams to be sampled from separate points. Gases can be analysed in sequence or at intervals set from the controls (front keypad or software). The Rapidox 1100 oxygen gas analyser can also be used to control an external proportional flow control valve (PFC). This is particularly useful within inert gas blanketing applications, where the analyser can regulate the level of gas based on the measurement of oxygen via the PFC control function.

Rapidox 2100 Oxygen Analyser

The Rapidox 2100 oxygen analyser was one of the first gas analysers manufactured by the company when it was established in 2000; due to its robust design some are still in service today! It is intended to provide low ppm oxygen analysis in high temperate vacuum applications. Fitted with a separate zirconia oxygen sensor connected via a 2m cable (other lengths available), the Rapidox 2100 provides fast and accurate oxygen analysis over the range 1ppm to 100%. 

Available in a bench mounted configuration, or with a bezel front panel to incorporate the instrument within a rack. Additionally the Rapidox 2100 can be supplied within a wall mountable, IP65 weatherproof housing. The zirconia sensor can then be positioned remotely up to 26 metres away either in a separate cabinet or as a standalone sensor. For customers requiring seamless integration into their product or process, the Rapidox can be supplied as an OEM solution.

Rapidox 3100 Multigas Analyser

The Rapidox 3100 range includes precision single, dual and triple gas analysis instruments providing powerful functionality and rich features. Designed for process, research and development applications, this gas analyser has proven very popular with universities and research institutes worldwide.

Typical gas analysis configurations include a combination of oxygen and another gas. However, other compatible gas sensors arrangements can be specified. Measurable gases include O2, CO2, CO, H2, Cl2, N2O, H2O, CH4, O2 and HFC227ea to suit the application.

Rapidox 5100 Portable Multigas Analyser

The Rapidox 5100 Multigas Analyser is a high specification instrument designed for the analysis, control and monitoring of gas in a wide range of applications including; biogas, syngas, anaerobic digestion and fermentation processes. Housed within an IP66 rated Peli case, this analyser makes for a truly portable field instrument with laboratory functionality.

Up to six gases are simultaneously measured using a range of high precision gas sensors; each sensor is specially designed and calibrated to avoid any cross interference effects with the background process gas. Safety is ensured by the inclusion of flashback arrestors in the gas measuring circuit where required. Measurable gases may include: CO2, CO, H2O, O2, Cl, NO, NO2, C2H4, SO2, CH4, N2O, O3, NH3, H2 and H2S.

Rapidox SF6 6100 Pump Back Analyser

The Rapidox SF6 6100 Pump Back is the latest in fully-automatic gas analysers and is designed for controlling and monitoring the quality of SF6 in medium & high voltage gas insulated electrical equipment. Exceptional accuracy and stability are provided when measuring the purity of the gas, through specially selected sensors.

Once connected, the Rapidox SF6 6100 Pump Back samples gas from the electrical equipment automatically or manually, with an inlet auto gas pressure sensing function. A vacuum purge cycle and gas storage system ensures that no air can contaminate the gas sample and that no SF6 gas can escape during the testing period.

Rapidox SF6 6100 Portable Analyser

The Rapidox SF6 6100 Portable is designed for controlling and monitoring the quality of SF6 in medium and high-voltage gas-insulated electrical equipment. Exceptional accuracy and stability are provided when measuring the purity of SF6gas, through specially selected sensors. A gas output nozzle allows for the analyser to be attached to the Rapidox Gas Recovery Bag, ensuring that all sampled gas is recovered.

Rapidox SF6 6100 Bench

The Rapidox SF6 6100 Bench mountable gas analyser is designed for controlling and monitoring the quality of SF6 gas over a range of applications, including medium & high voltage gas insulated electrical equipment, medical testing and laboratory-based research and development.

Exceptionally accurate and stable readings are achieved in simultaneous analysis and data-logging of SF6, SO2 and H2O (dew point) gases. A gas output nozzle allows for the analyser to be attached to the Rapidox Gas Recovery Bag, ensuring that all SF6 gas is recovered.

Rapidox 7100 Rack Mounted Multigas Analyser

The Rapidox 7100 Multigas Analyser is a high specification instrument designed for the analysis, control and monitoring of process gas in a wide range of industries. It allows the option of selecting multiple gas sensing configurations to suit the particular application. The analyser is housed within a 19″ (482mm) enclosure for convenient mounting into an industry standard test equipment rack.

Their products include a range of leak detection systems and the Oxybaby® handheld gas analyser that is specifically designed for the food / packaging (Modified Atmosphere Packaging) industry.

Calibration Gas

Produced by Air Products on behalf of Cambridge Sensotec, these calibration gases are designed specifically for the calibration and bump testing of single and multigas analysers. Available in a wide range of gas mixtures, with the option of multigas mixtures (O2-LEL-H2S-CO), these non-refillable calibration cylinders are lightweight, compact and disposable.

Calibration kits are supplied with either a fixed flow regulator (for analysers without sample pumps) or a special demand flow regulator (for analysers with sample pumps). All gas cylinders are fully compliant with the latest standards and legislation, and independent gas analysis certificates are supplied for each gas bottle. Supplied in a smart carry case with two canisters of calibration gas (gases depend on the exact analyser configuration), this is a convenient way of quickly checking and calibrating your Rapidox gas analysers or gas detection instruments. Each canister is filled with 112 litres of calibration gas giving approximately 220 minutes of gas flow. Cambridge Sensotec also supplies a full range of gas regulator valves, demand flow regulators and carry cases. Optional independent calibration certificates for gas cylinders are available at a small additional cost.

Calibration Service

Regular calibration significantly increases the measurement, reliability and repeatability of both gas detection and gas analyser instruments. Industry standards recommend that this takes place once every six months. Cambridge Sensotec offers a range of servicing options and has a dedicated team of fully trained technicians who offer professional calibration and servicing, designed to offer a quick and cost-effective method of maintaining your equipment's accuracy and safety. A specialist calibration station features top of the range equipment for highly accurate testing. This includes the BW Technologies MicroDock II and the Industrial Scientific DS2 Docking Station.

All tested units are returned with a calibration certificate, complete with the units test results. As part of the company's ISO 9001 quality standards, all calibration data is recorded onto our system for the reissue of lost calibration certificates and for calibration reminders to be sent to customers.

Installation Service

Cambridge Sensotec is pleased to partner with Phoenix Alarms & Safety Services Ltd, enabling us to offer our customers a comprehensive fixed gas detection installation and commissioning service for Oldham and Status Scientific instruments. This service includes national coverage, consultation, maintenance and calibration schedules designed specifically around customers' applications and environments.

Ranges include Safe area only fixed gas detection equipment, all the way to Atex Zone Zero equipment. Fixed detection systems can include; battery backup options, data logging software and sounders/beacons to ensure that alarms are heard. A variety of sensor technologies are utilised including; Infra-Red, Electrochemical, Pellistor and Semiconductor. This enables us to find solutions to even the most challenging of gas detection applications.
