Since 2004 I have provided, through Charig Associates, a specialist technical copywriter, technical marketing and documentation service for industrial electronics, electrical and software suppliers.


I am a degree-qualified Chartered Engineer (MIET), with a background in engineering and systems design as well as marketing and sales. With this mix I can quickly develop insight into your products, generating and placing copy that engages your target editors and customers.

Technical writing and documentation

No-one understands your products better than you do – but that can sometimes cause a problem. It can be hard to gauge where some-one without the benefit of your familiarity will find difficulties in understanding and using your technology.


Just like a new customer, I lack this familiarity, so I can ask the questions that he would, and use the answers as foundations for focused and effective documentation. Where practicable, I can also test the product, partly to help generate is support documentation, but also to provide early feedback on any problems with understanding the product or even with its operation. Perhaps surprisingly, my marketing background also helps. A user manual differs in many ways from a press release – yet both documents need to communicate ideas as simply and clearly as possible.
