As your partner, we will manage the entire process of designing, supplying and installing resin bound paving to ensure a highly professional finish, backed by a 10-year guarantee.
Innovative and flexible
Available in numerous UV-stable colours and textures, resin bound paving from Clearstone Paving can be matched to any environment. We use natural materials such as real shingle, crushed granite or quartz. Our system even lends itself to creative designs: unlike traditional paving, it can be laid in any number of non-standard patterns and configurations.
Low maintenance and eco-friendly
Tough enough to withstand power washing, Clearstone resin bound paths and driveways are easy to keep pristine and weed-free. Our system allows water to drain naturally through the surface.
From new builds to renovations
Resin bound paving from Clearstone Paving is well suited to new-build projects which require a sleek, modern look. We can also lay resin bound surfaces which blend perfectly with existing buildings and their surroundings - enhancing an old property which requires gentle renovation, or giving an instant facelift to a building which is being totally reinvented.
Heritage sites and listed buildings
English Heritage has approved resin paving systems for use in historic or prestige environments. With a wide range of natural colours to choose from, Clearstone Paving can create a surface which is sympathetic to any location.

Resin bound paving is porous, making it highly suitable for garden paths, tree pits, driveways and any areas which may be prone to standing water. The aggregate and resin mix has open voids across its surface, allowing air to flow freely and surface water to filter though the structure.
The resin bound paving system complies with SUDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems) requirements for planning consent.
When a free draining porous system is required for a urban or rural footpath, resin bound paving is a perfect, natural looking solution.
Because resin bound paving is porous, allowing rainwater and air to pass through its structure, it can be laid over the roots of trees and shrubs.
A resin bound tree base offers many advantages over traditional grilles or pits of loose gravel or soil:
- Tidy and attractive
- Does not trap litter
- Easy to clean with mechanical equipment
- Stones are firmly embedded and cannot be scattered, kicked or thrown
- Complies with SUDS regulations
- Unlike tree grills, it cannot be stolen!
Clearstone Paving specialises in resin bound paving.
Resin bound paving is made from gravel, shingle or crushed granite coated with a clear UV-stable polymer resin. To ensure that each aggregate particle is completely coated in resin, the two elements are pushed through a force-action mix process to form a cold-pour mixture. The mixture is then poured and hand-trowelled to form a smooth, accurate surface with no loose stones.
Resin paving terminology
Some specifiers use the terms ‘resin bonded’ and ‘resin bound’ interchangeably in their tender documents and CAD drawings. This can be misleading, since the bound and bonded systems are very different:
Resin bound [trowelled]
- Permeable (when laid on an open binder course of porous asphalt)
- Smooth texture
- Depth of 15-18mm
Resin bonded [scatter coat]
- Laid on concrete or a wearing course of asphalt
- Rough texture
- Depth of 3mm
