Rapid Prototyping and Rapid Tooling
CRDM has been involved in the UK rapid prototyping and tooling community since 1995 and are an early adopter of rapid prototyping and tooling technologies that haven't received a wider public audience.

CRDM's Rapid-Tooling system is the only Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) service available in the UK. Producing inserts for plastic and wax injection moulding tools with an Accuracy of+/- 20 micron, the system produces 15-20,000 components, for prototype, pre or low-volume production. Lead-time 2-3 weeks.

Stereolithography (SLA) and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)
CRDM's services include fit-function models from a choice of five Stereolithography (SLA) resins, rigid, semi-flexible, flexible, water-clear and the new ABS mimic.

For SLA production, we have two SLA 250s and a larger capacity SLA 3500. To offer a range of prototype functionality, CRDM runs these machines with a variety of stereolithography resins, rigid, semi-flexible, flexible, water-clear and the new ABS mimic.

For SLS the materials used in this system offer the most durable prototype parts from any RP system. The tough Nylon 11 is heat resistant up to 150ºC and is the obvious choice for functional prototypes that are to be used in working situations.

But as with all good rapid prototyping service providers, what really counts is the fact that they have the in-house staff with the knowledge to work with their customers, irrespective of pre-existing knowledge levels, to help in finding the most suitable methods to assist in developing products further and eventually bringing new products to market.
