    Earthquake Testing

    Earthquake testing is a vital part of the research and development of equipment and structural components to be used in parts of the world that see earthquakes. Structures and materials for use in civil engineering projects, and computer, electronic, and telecommunications devices must be tested to comply with strict industry standards - NEBS for telecommunications devices, ICC-ES AC156 for non-structural engineering parts, and IEEE 344 for nuclear power plant equipment.

    The testing process involves subjecting products to simulated earthquake conditions and is carried out with hydraulic excitation sources providing high displacement levels.     Electrodynamic Shaker Shock Testing

    Shock Testing carried out using an Electrodynamic Shaker has the advantage of being repeatable and more accurate than traditional drop testing. Here at Data Physics we can provide manufacturers with Electrodynamic Shakers for the purposes of product testing and development and quality checking and verification.

    We provide the SignalStar Classical Shock systems that utilise algorithms to take advantage of all possible armature displacement during shock testing. The electrodynamic shaker possesses a greater displacement capability than ordinary shakers for high level shock testing.

  6. Ground Vibration Testing

    Ground Vibration Testing
    Ground Vibration Testing is an important method of quality verification used in the aerospace industry. Modal tests are carried out on the component parts of aircraft and spacecraft to check for safety and structural integrity. The results derived from the testing can be used in design modifications and as data for use in flight flutter testing.

    At Data Physics we provide modal shakers and dynamic analysers for ground vibration testing. The modal shakers are for the excitation of the aircraft, whilst the analyser will check and assess the frequency responses. Our equipment can be used for stepped sine excitation or normal mode testing.

    Modal and Operating Deflection Shape Testing
    Every product, component and structure will provide a dynamic response to noise, vibration and stress testing and emit natural frequencies and mode shapes. Modal and Operating Deflection Shape Testing (ODS) is the analysis and assessment of these responses during the design process during quality verification and modification. Modal analysis and ODS is used across various industries, ranging from academic research and development, to automotive manufacturing.

    ODS, in particular, is an advanced form of modal analysis and shows the deformation of structures when subjected to vibration and stress testing at known frequencies. At Data Physics we provide high performance testing equipment with data processing platforms for modal analysis and ODS.
