Goudsmit Magnetics Group BV

Since 1959 the Goudsmit Magnetics Group designs and manufactures magnetic systems for metal separation, recycling, transport, lifting, holding and demagnetizing. Millions of magnetic systems have found their way to every continent. Innovation and quality -according to ISO, ISO/TS 16949, AS9100C,  EHEDG & VDA 6.3 standards- are the organization's cornerstones.

Goudsmit Magnetics Group BV - Driven by magnetism since 1959

Goudsmit Magnetics Group is an international industrial company dedicated to the design and manufacture of magnets and magnetic systems for metal separation, recycling, transport, lifting, holding and demagnetization in various branches of industry.  Intensive contact between company, original equipment manufacturer and end user, in combination with years of accumulated knowledge and cutting-edge engineering, result in functional custom solutions.

Magnetic filtering

Magnetic separators filter and remove metal contamination from your product streams. They guarantee the product quality and prevent damage to machines.

Metal contaminants – also called foreign bodies – can enter your production line in all sorts of ways. Pieces of iron or steel in the raw material, staples, nails and screws from packaging, bolts and nuts that have vibrated loose, wear of the moving parts, rust or corrosion, etc. These foreign bodies can 'contaminate' your finished product, and they can also cause severe damage to your machinery. Rejection of batches is costly, but it can be even more costly if the contamination is not detected and removed, making it necessary to conduct a product recall. You will then be faced with enormous costs and damage to your reputation.

Magnetic handling & lifting of steel plates and parts

Handling magnets are used for transport, transfer, fastening and lifting of ferromagnetic products in the metal, automotive and robot industry. Magnetic handling of products reduces both the time it takes and the number of actions required to automate a process and ensure it proceeds smoothly. For products click here

Demagnetizing / degaussing

Why demagnetize (degauss)?

The consequences of residual magnetism may be desirable, problematic or even very costly. A nut that clings to the end of a screwdriver is handy. Having two products stick together in a mould is an undesirable situation; this interrupts production and therefore costs time and money.

Magnetically conductive metals, such as steel products and tools which are processed or come into contact with magnets, can easily become magnetized. For example, after contact with clamping tables or after magnetic conveyance. Other causes include welding, grinding, bending, machining, deep drawing and even mechanical vibrations. Depending on the type of metal (material structure, alloy), this magnetism may be retained in the object.

Unwanted residual magnetism can cause many problems in a production process, such as:

  • products sticking together in a mould;
  • a rough surface after galvanization;
  • welding impossible or with difficulty;
  • welds that only penetrate on one side;
  • increased bearing wear;
  • metal chips that stick to parts or tools;
  • detection errors by actuators and magnetic sensors;
  • failure and waiting times at automatic machining stations due to adhering materials;
  • imperfections and thickness differences during electrogalvanization or chrome plating;
  • adherence of extra dirt and dust.

Magnets for recycling & sorting

Recycling & sorting

The recovery of metals from flows of waste or raw material (for reuse, among other purposes) is becoming increasingly important. Raw materials are becoming scarcer and the costs of waste disposal continue to rise.

Governments are seeking to reduce the environmental burden too, by promoting and subsidizing recycling initiatives for example.

This results in increased market demand for the recycling of metals from waste. Goudsmit has developed many separators that can pick out pieces of metal. These are often very valuable metals, which often makes the payback period very short.
In this way waste products are made reusable for new applications. Examples include Green Deals, Urban Mining, E-Waste recycling and the EU Waste Directive (Directive 2008/98/EC); the trends for the future!

Goudsmit's recycling magnets separate; ferromagnetic parts such as iron, steel and weakly magnetic metals such as machined stainless steel, but also non-ferromagnetic parts, such as: aluminum, copper, zinc, gold, silver, magnesium etc. For products click here

Magnets & Assemblies

Permanent magnets play an important role in the present technologically advanced living environment. They are indispensable in electrical engineering, with applications in, among others, generators, motors and relays.

Permanent magnets in various types of materials, such as neodymium (NdFeB), samarium cobalt (SmCo), ferrite, AlNiCo and plastic-coated magnets are used in many different automotive parts (e.g. door locks, sun roofs, ABS, speakers, windscreen wipers, electric window regulators) making magnets indispensable in our cars. Considering that safety is always the highest priority in this branch, quality is put above all else.

Goudsmit is one of the few European magnet suppliers that is both ISO 9001:2008, ISO/TS 16949:2009 and AS9100 (aerospace) certified and capable of conducting internal process audits in accordance with VDA6.3. This, along with advanced measuring equipment, ensures that every aspect of our magnets complies with the applicable quality and safety requirements.

Magnets for mounting & suspension

Quick and easy attachment of promotional material, displays, wall panels, paintings, whiteboards, clothes hooks and tools to ceiling or wall. With mounting magnets and magnetic hanging systems for wall or ceiling you can hang things without drilling or screwing. The magnets attach to any steel surface, such as partition walls, office cabinets and drop ceilings and can be easily removed again without damaging the surface.

Goudsmit has a wide range magnetic coat rack hooks, wall magnets, ceiling magnets and magnets for cars, warehouses, offices and retail spaces. Whether you want to hang a jacket, clock, acoustic panel, shop advertisement or whiteboard, you can with the right magnets. We are happy to help you choose the best options for your specific magnet application.
