The new Shakeawake is battery operated and can be set to a vibration, audible alarm or both together. If the shakeawake is set to one of the vibrating alarm settings then it should be placed under your pillow, if set to sound you can either place it under your pillow or place it on your bedside table using the built in stand. You can choose to set the alarm to "snooze" for 8 minutes. You can read the time in the dark by pressing the backlight button.
