070M20 Steel

Hillfoot Multi Metals keeps large stocks of 070M20 grade steel at its site in Sheffield, ready for distribution to manufacturing companies across the UK.

This low carbon steel, often referred to as EN3A steel, is a general purpose mild steel for welded or riveted structures, forgings, machined parts, hot pressing, etc.

070M20 will withstand a moderate amount of cold deformation and only offers low strength, but good machinability.

Contact Hillfoot Multi Metals to discuss your requirements for 070M20 steel or visit our website for more technical information and to see surcharge data.

S355 Steel

Hillfoot Multi Metals stocks S355 grade steel bar as standard in a range of sizes, ready for next day delivery to UK manufacturers.

This medium tensile, low carbon manganese steel is readily weldable and possesses good impact resistance (also in sub-zero temperatures). Machinability of this material is similar to that of mild steel.

The material is commonly supplied in the untreated or normalised condition and is available in several variations (denoted by additional letters and/or digits) which offer slight modifications of chemical composition and mechanical properties.

S355 is commonly used in the offshore and yellow goods industries for applications including welded structures, bridge components, pins, wheel bearings and axles.

Contact Hillfoot Multi Metals to request a quote for S355 steel and to find out more about how our technical, logistical and engineering services can reduce costs and improve reliability in your supply chain.

16MnCr5 Steel

Hillfoot Multi Metals stocks 16MnCr5 grade steel at its Sheffield site, ready for distribution to UK manufacturers and to fulfil export orders.

16MnCr5 is a case hardening steel used extensively for both carburising and carbonitriding, and demonstrates reasonably high hardenability and excellent forgeability. It benefits from excellent weldability, however care should be taken to avoid weld cracking. Machinability is approximately 80% of that of mild steel.

It is typically used for applications such as gears, pins, shafts, camshafts, drive wheels and clutch plates.

Contact Hillfoot Multi Metals to discuss your requirements for 16MnCr5 steel or visit our website for more technical information and surcharge data.

080M40 Steel

Hillfoot Multi Metals keeps large stocks of 080M40 grade steel at its site in Sheffield, ready for distribution to manufacturing companies across the UK.

This medium carbon steel, which is often referred to as EN8 steel, offers moderate tensile strengths. It is capable of through hardening by quenching and tempering on limited sections, but is more commonly supplied in the untreated or normalized condition. Machinability similar to that of mild steel can be expected, however weldability is reduced.

It is typically used for applications such as automotive components, axles, spindles, studs and general engineering components.

Contact Hillfoot Multi Metals to discuss your requirements for 080M40 steel or visit our website for more technical information and to see surcharge data.

817M40 Steel

Hillfoot Multi Metals stocks 817M40 grade steel as standard, ready to fulfill ongoing supply contracts or one-off orders from UK manufacturers.

This general purpose steel, which is sometimes referred to as EN24 steel, has good hardenability, so can be used for medium tensile strengths in fairly large sections, and good wear resistance.

It can also be heat treated to produce a wide range of tensile strengths, combined with good ductility and resistance to shock.

Bars are often supplied in the hardened and tempered condition with a tensile strength range of 850-1000 N/mm². The material is readily machinable so that the components can be put into service without the cost of further treatment.

817M40 steel is used for a wide range of engineering parts, such as shafts, connection rod bolts, push rods and pinion sleeves.

Contact Hillfoot Multi Metals to discuss your requirements for 817M40 steel or visit our website for more technical information and to see surcharge data.

835M30 Steel

Hillfoot Multi Metals stocks 835M30 grade steel, ready for delivery to UK manufacturers and export customers.

The 4.5% Nickel-Chromium-Molybdenum through hardening steel, which is sometimes referred to as EN30B steel, has the ability to harden in fairly large sections, giving strengths of over 1550N/mm².

835M30 steel is used for applications requiring high tensile strengths for which more drastic quenches would produce distortion or cracking, especially in parts of intricate design. Typical applications include high duty gears, pinions, transmission components, heavy roller bearings, aero engine connection rods, airframe forgings and small arms components.

Contact Hillfoot Multi Metals to discuss your requirements for 835M30 steel and to find out more about how our technical, logistical and engineering services can reduce costs and improve reliability in your supply chain.

722M24 Steel

Hillfoot Multi Metals stocks 722M24 grade steel ready to fulfil both ad hoc orders and long-term supply agreements.

The Chromium-Molybdenum nitriding steel, which is sometimes referred to as EN40B steel, is often supplied in the hardened and tempered condition (typically with 1075 N/mm² tensile strength).

After nitriding it develops a hard wear resistant case in the range of 61-65HRc with good resistance to shock and fatigue. The relatively low temperature of the nitriding process produces components with a scale free surface and minimum distortion, while no significant loss of surface hardness will result from operating temperatures up to 500°C.

722M24 grade steel is used in aircraft applications, as well as for gears, crankshafts, compressor discs, pins, spindles and bolts.

Contact Hillfoot Multi Metals to request a quote for 722M24 steel and to learn how we can help to improve the efficiency of your metals supply chain.

655M13 Steel

Hillfoot Multi Metals is a leading UK supplier of 655M13 steel and keeps the grade in stock as standard to fulfil ongoing contracts with and one-off orders from manufacturers.

The nickel-chromium alloy case-hardening steel, sometimes referred to as EN36 steel, is specified for heavy duty highly-stressed applications.

When carburised and hardened core strengths of 850 - 1230 N/mm² are attainable. The presence of chromium increases hardenability whilst the nickel content increases toughness and resistance to shock.

655M13 steel is typically used in applications such as high duty gears for aircraft, heavy vehicle transmission components, track rod pins, breech mechanisms and small arms parts.

Get in touch with Hillfoot to request a quote for 655M13 steel and to find out more about our range of engineering services and supply chain management solutions.

150M19 Steel

Hillfoot Multi Metals stocks 150M19 grade steel as standard, ready to fulfil orders from UK manufacturing companies and export customers.

This medium tensile, low carbon manganese steel, which is often referred to as EN14 steel, is readily weldable and possesses good impact resistance. It is capable of through hardening by quenching and tempering on limited sections but is more commonly supplied in the untreated or normalized condition. Machinability is similar to that of mild steel.

It is typically used for applications such as lifting gear, spindles and welded structures.
