Howard Butler Ltd

Howard Butler Ltd has been manufacturing panel meters, current transformers, relays, transducers and associated products in our UK factory for over 85 years.

Howard Butler Ltd has ISO 9001:2008 approval with a constantly reviewed quality policy. This ensures that through our  vigilance, control, design methods and accountability throughout all stages of design and manufacture quality is designed and built into our products. Our in-house design engineers are able to work with customers to provide custom solutions where our standard product range is not applicable. Our policy is one of continuous improvement, therefore the HOBUT range is regularly added to with new products, mostly designed to IEC, BS, or DIN specifications.

We hold extensive stocks of vital components to ensure quick delivery of both standard and special
products. Customer satisfaction is central to the aims of Howard Butler Ltd, with our fully integrated
computer system closely controlling orders, enquiries and stock.

  1. 80 Series Split-Core Current Transformers

    80 Series Split-Core Current Transformers
A range of moulded case Split core current transformers with in-built terminal covers. Primary ranges available up to 5000A with 5A secondary as standard. he Hobut range of Split-core current transformers has been designed to meet the growing demand for installation into existing networks. The split-core allows installation without disconnecting cables or busbar circuits. The products are ideal for retro-fitting and are therefore popular in the Energy Management and Power Factor Correction Industries.
  2. AC Current Protection Relay

    AC Current Protection Relay
he M200 AC current relays provide current monitoring and protection in both single and 3 phase systems. Used in applications such as motor protection, load detection and generator control. Under, over and combined under/over units are available. The relay operates when the adjustable trip point is reached. An externally adjustable time delay is provided to prevent nuisance tripping. As is common with all the M200 relays, on over relays the unit energises when the input signal exceeds the trip point. On under units the relay de-energises when the input signal goes beyond the trip point. A red LED indicates the condition of the power supply.
  3. AC Current Transducers

    AC Current Transducers
DIN rail mounting transducers available in 55mm x 112mm or 100 x 112mm DIN rail case. Used to convert various inputs into standard DC signals for driving panel meters and for use in control devices.
  4. AC Power Meters

  5. Active Power Transducers

    Active Power Transducers
DIN rail mounting transducers available in 55mm x 112mm or 100 x 112mm DIN rail cases. Used to convert various inputs into standard DC signals for driving panel meters and for use in control devices.
  6. AC Voltage Transducer

    AC Voltage Transducer
The M100 series voltage transducers are designed to measure AC voltage in single and 3 phase systems. They convert the A.C. signal to a D.C. output that is directly proportional to the input signal. The M100-VA1, VA3 are self powered (ie no auxiliary required) average sensing RMS calibrated voltage transducers, mA and voltage outputs are available. The M100-VR1 is true RMS sensing RMS calibrated allowing measurement of distorted waveforms of up to 9th harmonic with a crest factor of 5. The VR1 is typically used in voltage measurements where distorted waveforms are common such as in thyristor drives. The above units are used to measure voltage in energy management systems, switchboards, generator and telemetary controls. Isolation of 4kV is provided between the input and output signal, allowing the output to be fed to conventional analogue meters, digital meters, PLC, and computer systems.

  9. Clip Together Split-Core Current Transformers

    Clip Together Split-Core Current Transformers
Split-Core transformer, with a unique clip-together feature. Supplied in a moulded case with 1 metre flying leads. Suitable for primary ranges up to 800A with 5A secondary. For installation into existing networks without disconnecting cable circuits. The fast action clip function ensures a high speed permanent installation
  10. Clip Together Split-Core Current Transformers With Plug in Short Circuit

Clip Together Split-Core Current Transformers With Plug in Short Circuit
Our new Split Core current transformer features a unique plug-in short circuit link for safety. It is supplied in a moulded case with 5 metre double insulated flying lead and bootlace ferrule terminations. For installation into existing networks without disconnecting cable circuits. The new inbuilt plug-in short circuit link allows the current transformer to be installed in complete safety. The current transformer will not operate until the plug in is removed.
