When requiring a power supply in any format, the IP Suppport engineering team become the technical partner for engineering design, development, consultancy and hardware teams to provide expert advice tailored to the precise application requirements when developing a device at design level which ensure projects progress to completion effectively. 

The Ideal Power brand is synonymous with innovative high-end, high-performance and well engineered, efficient designs, covering a vast range of DC/DC Converters , AC/DC Internal and External Power Supplies as well as LED Drivers, Inverters and Transformers providing customers with access to a wide range of power sources most suited for the application.

Ideal Power understand that correct operation of a device is critical to both performance and user safety. For this reason, Ideal Power products strictly conform to high quality standards and regulation. All items are CE marked and include, Low Voltage Directive (LVD) 2006/95/EC, Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC) 2004/108/EC and Restriction of Hazardous Substances - RoHS 2011/65/EU, with most products complying with the Energy Related Products - ERP2, California Energy Commission – CEC V and REACH (138SVHC). We can also provide UL / cUL / TUV / PSE / CCC / C-Tick / CB / FCC compliant products as well as LPS (Limited Power Source) and CLASS I or CLASS II devices. Other standards can be acquired subject to specific needs.

The Ideal Power expert team has over 40 years industry experience and occupies two locations in the UK. The centrally based head-office in Northampton provides marketing, sales and technical support to provide the optimum product for a wide range of applications and industries including computing, communications, transportation, security, industrial, defence and medical. The proficient warehouse facility near Barnstaple in North Devon holds large amounts of stock for call-off, providing an extra, yet essential service that accommodates delivery requirements set by customers. This brings logistics, convenience and cash flow benefits whilst achieving synergy with all business models.

 

External Power Supply

AC / AC and AC / DC External Power Supplies available as a switched-mode power supply (switching-mode power supply, SMPS, switcher) or a linear unit.

The range of physical chassis options include Plug-top, Desk-top and Interchangeable. The primary application areas include consumer, industrial, computing, communication and security.

Modifications can include:

AC/DC Converter

AC/DC power supplies to convert a source of Alternating Current (AC) to a specified Direct Current (DC). Primary application areas include Medical, Communications, Security, Military, Industrial, Data Storage, Networking, Audio / Video and Consumer.

Suited for use in areas of high regulation or restrictions within the application environment such as hygienic or hazardous zones and devices that require wiring directly into the mains power source.

Available as industry standard Open Frame, Encapsulated and Enclosed (Chassis / Cover) configurations that incorporate industry leading topology design and modern components which achieve high efficiency.

DC/DC Converter

DC/DC power supply converters ready to convert a voltage source of Direct Current (DC) to another specified DC voltage. Primary application areas include Medical, Communications, Security, Military, Industrial, Consumer and Portable devices.

Using a combination of industry leading design and the latest component technology, Ideal Power DC/DC Converters are high density and highly efficient with some models exceeding 90% efficiency. Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS), Synchronous Rectifier (SR) and Trans-Filter topology architectures are available along-side conventional hard-switching methods, encased in compact low profile Brick, Encapsulated and Open Frame housings / Chassis Cover (Enclosed).

Very low temperature operation is achieved by the special one-sided design incorporated into Ideal Power DC/DC converters. The one-sided build consists of components located on one side of the PCB instead of two. This allows for excellent dissipation of heat through the back of the PCB which acts as a large heat-sink to then be attached to a cold-plate. This means less energy is wasted, the application device runs cooler, the components can attain their maximum life-cycle along with power cost savings. 

Other specification considerations comprise of Switched Mode, Regulated, Single or Dual outputs configured in a Single Inline Package (SIP) or Double Inline Package (DIP).

Battery Charger

A versatile range of battery chargers for the most popular battery chemistries that are capable of being configured for any application. Primary areas of focus are Industrial, Consumer and Purpose Built or Application Specific battery chargers. Ideal Power battery charger expertise also covers leisure and mobility applications.

Using intelligent and smart charging technologies, Li-ion (Lithium-ion), NiMH (Nickel-Metal Hydride, Lead-Acid and NiCd (Nickel-Cadmium) battery types can be sympathetically charged to ensure that optimum levels of performance and maximum life-cycle is achieved from the battery.

Advanced 3-Stage chargers are also available and can be modified to suit a particular application.

LED Driver

Light-Emitting Diode (LED) Driver modules to power multiple combinations of LED lighting systems in any environment including industrial, commercial and residential applications.

The two main categories of LED Driver are Constant Voltage and Constant Current. Constant Voltage is ideally suited when LED lighting is arranged in a parallel, where as an arrangement in series uses Constant Current LED Drivers. Both types are offered with either an AC or DC input and the option of a dimming function.

With high efficiency ratings and safety approval standards, the Ideal Power LED Driver range includes Class I and Class II devices to meet the earthing and insulation requirements of the project install.

Ingress Protection ratings (sometimes referred to as International Protection Rating) IP65 and IP67 for protection against solid particles and liquid ingress are available from a range or qualified products to ensure all application environments are accommodated.
