Lasermet is a world renowned leader in laser safety, having been heavily involved in the development of the internationally recognised laser safety standards IEC / EN 60825 for many years. 

Lasermet is privately owned and is a ISO 9001 registered company. It was founded in 1987 and has been providing laboratories, hospitals, clinics, manufacturing facilities, universities and many other institutions with all of the laser safety expertise in terms of products and services needed to ensure laser operators, staff and other personnel are kept safe from the potentially damaging effects of laser radiation.

Lasermet’s vast experience in laser safety puts it in a strong position - worldwide - to define and produce laser safety products and services that meet the laser safety standards’ criteria. 

As a result, Lasermet designs, manufactures and installs an extensive range of products covering all aspects of laser safety, notably laser safety cabins for high powered lasers, laser interlock control systems, laser blocking curtains, screens and roller blinds.

Lasermet's headquarters are in Dorset, and the company has overseas offices in Illinois in the US.  The company has a Manufacturing Centre and R&D Development Facility located in Haydock near St Helens, Merseyside, and in addition Lasermet is represented worldwide by a network of Distributors.

  1. Active Laser Guarding Enclosures

    Active Laser Guarding Enclosures
    The Laser Jailer active laser guarding system combines an inherently fail-safe laser detection technique and Lasermet's proven laser interlock control system technology to create an active laser guarding system which is fail safe to Machinery Directive Standard EN13849-1. The system is designed to contain a high powered laser beam in a laser enclosure which is smaller and lighter than would otherwise be necessary. It comprises of an outer passive enclosure and an inner active enclosure made up of detector tiles which are connected to Lasermet's ICS interlock system.Lasermet's fail-safe technology isolates the laser safety input in less than 50ms. The laser machine responds to this laser termination signal and laser radiation is terminated - the actual laser termination time being dependent on the laser machine in use.

    Reduce interruptions and downtime in your laser facility with accurate indication of laser status All Class 3B and Class 4 lasers require interlocking to comply with standard laser safety practice. However, while this fulfils the safety requirements it can be inconvenient and even costly to have your laser shut down when an access door is opened. Such interruptions can be avoided either by using a locking interlock system (see interlocks), or by providing accurate information regarding your laser status by the use of illuminated signs, or both.

    Lasermet's ICS Laser Interlock Controllers are incorporated in thousands of installations worldwide and are used in laboratories, clinics, universities and research establishments as well as in manufacturing facilities. The Interlocks are supplied with a simple, easy-to-use control panel which can be wired directly to numerous interlocks or groups of interlocks.

    The ICS-6 uses full dual-channel technology to ensure safety in the event of any component failure. It enables the laser to fire only when all of the relevant doors have been closed and roller blinds are interlocked shut where fitted. Once all laser safety criteria are satisfied the intelock controller will enable the laser to be used. If the door is opened while the laser is in use, the controller will immediately prevent the laser radiation from emitting thereby rendering the area safe. Known by many as the industry standard for interlocks, the ICS-6 is available for installation and conformance to the laser safety standards BS 60825-1.
