Lorien Engineering Solutions
Lorien Engineering Solutions are consultant engineers. We are an engineering design and project management organisation, with specialists who deliver capital projects and consulting assignments in:
brewing, drinks, food, industrial and heritage sector, pharma and biotech.
We provide the total design and management resource for complex projects, and establish project viability through via front-end studies.
The Lorien Energy Index and Lorien Carbon Signature tools have been launched via the Lorien Engineering Solutions website. Created by the team of sustainability engineers at Lorien, the Lorien Energy Index (LEI) enables companies of all sizes to track trends in energy prices and make sense of their current fuel use.
The Lorien Energy Index (LEI) monitors the overall cost of energy for business users, and it enables companies of all sizes to make sense of their current fuel use and look at ways they can make considerable savings in the future, possibly through the use of energy efficient technologies, and making productive use of waste streams and other resources.
Renewable Waste and Energy is a fast-growing business stream for Lorien, with expertise spanning Waste Recycling Facilities, Waste Transfer Stations, Biogas, Biomass Heating, Water and Ground Source Heat Pumps, Composting, and Combined Heat and Power. Compliance: Modern manufacturing plants have a high reliance upon automated processes and materials handling equipment. This equipment must comply with certain minimum standards of safety for operators and maintainers.
Lorien's machinery and plant compliance consultants undertake work on general plant safety under PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations), CE-Marking (Machinery [Safety] Regulations). This includes assessment of machinery to be imported in to the EU, and the safety assessment of 'complex assemblies' - the combination of individual machines within an automated production line. We carry out this work for clients using machines in production, and for machine manufacturers.
We undertake hazardous area classifications and 'gap studies' under DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations), or ATEX 137. Our engineers have experience of volatile liquids, gases and powders.
Design safety reviews such as HAZOPs (Hazard and Operability assessments), FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), and Safety & Operability reviews are all routinely supported by our Compliance Consultants. We also offer training courses in key operational safety areas.
Lorien offer total facility and manufacturing based solutions for the Food Industry. We design hygienic environments and processes that are compliant with statutory and best-practice frameworks, satisfying our client and end customer requirements.
We understand issues connected with high and low care production areas, methods of cleaning, continuous or batch operations and materials logistics.
Many of our projects start at the concept study stage, providing an unbiased appraisal of the most effective solutions that include: product range or volume expansion, lower cost of production, factory rationalisation and master-planning.
Our experiences have seen Lorien undertake projects for food manufacturers both in the UK and across Western and Eastern Europe, and Asia. Our solutions often require us to source the best-fit equipment from across the world.
We handle projects seamlessly from study through design and procurement to final commissioning and handover, providing total ownership of the project.
Sustainable construction, energy efficiency and environmental compliance are at the forefront of what we do, investigating and advising on low carbon options and reductions in carbon footprint.
We offer a down-to-earth approach seeking out efficiencies and options with good return on investment.
Surveys and data gathering are carried out to give a sound basis for options evaluation and recommended solution utilising BREEAM or LEED methodologies.
We investigate grant availability which are often available to assist with capital investment and feasibility studies.
Full design and project management skills are provided to realise the scheme benefits and to deliver PRACTICAL SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS.
