Aluminium

There are many advantages to using Aluminium. This makes it a widely used product in many applications across a wide range of industries.

Strength
Although the tensile strength of pure Aluminium is low, with the addition of alloying elements and tempering the mechanical properties can be greatly increased. Common alloying elements are manganese, silicon, magnesium and copper.

Light Metal
A major advantage of using Aluminium is its low weight density (approximately one third of steel and copper). This characteristic makes it a commonly used metal in the transportation industry giving increased payloads and added fuel savings.

High Corrosion Resistance
Aluminium has a thin layer of oxide which forms on the surface when it is first exposed to the air. This film gives it an added resistance to corrosion. Although mainly used in its mill finished condition, by anodising or painting the Aluminium will further increase the corrosion resistance as well as give a range of decorative finished. These advantages make Aluminium a popular metal in the construction industry.

Bespoke Extrusions

MG Metals specialise in creating bespoke Aluminium extruded products tailored to meet individual requirements. Our company works alongside our clients, from conception of an idea, through to project completion, to ensure total satisfaction. The creation begins at the design stage where we can adapt and work from your ideas. Whether we receive a rough sketch or detailed drawing, our design team aims to create a drawing suited to your specifications. We target a maximum 48 hour timescale to provide you with the important feedback on your design, coupled with a budget figure for bringing your design to life. We work on producing technical detailed drawings within a further 48 hour timescale.

We are able to supply bespoke Aluminium extrusion sections weighing 0.012kg/mtr up to 32kgs/mtr with wall thickness from 0.5mm, from the following range of commercial alloys, including 1050, 1200, 5083, 6005, 6060, 6061, 6063, 6082.

MG Metals are pleased to offer the following range of services coupled with our extensive stockholding facilities. We are therefore able to offer an efficient delivery service to our clients with the ability to manage your stock effectively.

Fabrication - Cutting, Drilling and Punching
With our extensive range of machinery and processing facilities, we are able to offer our clients a complete service which includes: Power Presses for punching, 4 axis CNC machines for drilling and tapering. We also house a selection of re-cut saws which enables us to cut your bespoke product to close tolerances

Stainless Steel

MG Metals Stainless steel has several characteristics which make it a popular choice of metal across many industry sectors.

Excellent Corrosion Resistance
Lower alloyed grades of stainless steel resist corrosion in atmospheric and pure water environments whilst high alloyed grades resist corrosion in most acids, alkaline solutions and chlorine.

High Temperature Resistance
High chromium and nickel alloy grades of stainless steel retain strength at very high temperatures.

Ease of Fabrication
With the correct equipment stainless steel is easily cut, welded, formed, machined and fabricated.

Hygienic Properties
The fact that stainless steel is easy to clean makes it a widely used product in hospitals, kitchens and other food processing plants.

Aesthetic Appeal
The bright, easily maintained surface of stainless steel provides a very modern and attractive appearance.
